Managing Your Garden Soil, Aug. 28, 3:00-4:30

Dwayne Tate of the Mountain Horticultural Crops Research & Extension Center will discuss the basics of caring for your garden soil to maintain soil fertility.  $7

Outstanding Small Trees for the Home Garden, Sept. 27, 4:00-5:30

Plant propagator Brian Upchurch will showcase small deciduous trees that perform well in the western NC landscape.  He will particularly focus on under-utilized and new plants.  $12

 

Dried Floral Arrangement Workshop, Oct. 4, 10:00-12:00

Marion Donovan of Floral Creations will instruct you in creating a dried fall floral arrangement.  Bring your own container and glue gun, all other materials will be provided.  Limited to 12. $35

 

Pumpkin Carving Workshop, Oct 23, 4:00-6:00

Master Gardener Betty Lockwood will lead you in carving creative designs on pumpkins.  Participants will receive a pumpkin, carving tools and patterns.  Children must be supervised by an adult.  $15

 

Wreath-Making Workshop, Nov. 29, 3:00-5:00

Extension Agent Renay Knapp will demonstrate the art of creating natural holiday wreaths from greenery of the Bullington Center.  All materials will be provided for you to make your own.  $30

 

Amaryllis Sale,  December

Amaryllis, timed to bloom for Christmas, will be on sale at the Bullington greenhouse throughout December.

 

Pruning Seminar, Dec. 1, 1:00-2:30

Learn to properly prune dormant trees and shrubs.  Richard Fry of Fry Nursery will be back to share his considerable expertise on the topic.  $12

 

Botanical Holiday Ornament Workshop, Dec. 5, 2:00-3:30

Artist Tamsin Allpress will guide participants in creating beautiful holiday ornaments from natural botanical objects.  Start collecting berries, leaves and other interesting natural items.  $15

Grafting Workshop, Jan. 5, 1:00-4:00

Learn the rewarding craft of grafting.  Fritz McCall will instruct participants in the technique of grafting Japanese maples.  All materials will be provided. $25
