Bullington Center Volunteers

Volunteers are a vital part of the organization and have been a major support over the last ten years. With their support, the Bullington Center is able to continue making a positive difference in the community.

At least thirty community volunteers - women, men, and children - have spent long hours working on various projects to benefit the Bullington Center. Thanks to all our volunteers who:

  • Plant gardens
  • Take care of plants in the greenhouse
  • Assist with educational programs
  • Mow Grass
  • Fix Machines
  • Raise Money
  • Provide technical expertise
  • Manage volunteers

The core group of garden volunteers ensure that planting, transplanting, mulching, weeding, and general maintenance are accomplished on schedule. At present, we have the Elfuns and Bill Burdett's church group to thank for new windows and doors in the Head House. James Hyde and Tim Nichols, both Boy Scouts seeking merit badges, meticulously painted the outside of the Head House and shed, for which we are all grateful.

On April 30, Bullington Center held its Second Annual Spring Plant Sale, organized by volunteers. Most of the plants offered for sale were grown over the winter by students in the BOOST program and, again, by dedicated volunteers who regularly oversee maintenance of thousands of seedlings.

The Bullington Center hosted the second Afternoon Tea last September. Music was provided by the Strings Program in the schools. We enjoyed homemade goodies concocted by several dedicated supporters of Bullington. Attendees strolled in the gardens, sat at shaded tables enjoying the garden atmosphere, food, and music. One generous volunteer loaned several lace tablecloths that certainly added to the ambiance!
